This is EXACTLY what I was looking for!
A few years ago, I went to a local metal shop and had them fabricate this stainless steel fire pit for me, to my specifications. I’ve been using it mostly with extended forks and sharpened tree branches to roast wieners, marshmallows, chicken, and kabobs, but I wanted to be able to cook more things, like racks of ribs, steaks, burgers, or other things that are best cooked on a grill. This stainless steel, 2 ft. diameter grill fit perfectly, is very sturdy, well made, and as far as grills go, easy to clean. This product is well worth the money.Edit: Added a few pictures using the grill as it was intended.

    Not 16″ diameter
Nice quality grate. But we really wanted the 16″ diameter grate as it would come close to fitting our old grill.(It is not a green egg)

Industrial grade grate that may not work with older eggs.
Extremely solid grill grate. Nice welds on the joints and the finish of the stainless steel is very smooth for easy cleaning. Far superior to my original egg grate. With one caveat however. My medium green egg is somewhat old, as I bought it over a decade ago. When I put in in my egg on top the fire ring for direct cooking (not the plate setter or “convEGGtor“ as its called these days”) it had a fairly snug fit. Later on after cooking quite a few burgers I tried to remove the grate to add a little more lump and found it firmly stuck. It had expanded from the heat and was jammed in there tight. I had to pry it out to remove it and refused to put it back in for fear of cracking my egg. As I understand this is not an issue with newer eggs as apparently they are a bit larger inside. Its unfortunate because the grate is simply awesome. So well made and sturdy it might just last a lifetime of cooking. It just needs to be a wee bit smaller for older eggs. I had to return it and Smokware promptly refunded.

    Better Quality
This grill is heavier gauge and higher quality that the original 10 year old BGE grill.
