Upgrade from Onkyo to a Marantz
I have been looking to get away from my old Onkyo TX-NR676 (2017 model) and have been looking at Marantz AV receiver since the SR7015 (2020 model). So when I got back into looking at an upgrade this year in 2025 I was pleasantly surprised to see Marantz new line of Cinema series AV receivers. We just bought a new tv cabinet console that has little more depth but still it wasn’t enough to fit this huge receiver. You will see in my photos my DIY fitment in my cabinet. While following the onscreen setup the testing audio blew me away just by the “analog sound”. I didn’t know what that meant until I heard it. The sound emits a natural sound and less “digital”. And once I started watching on my Apple TV the video quality going from an old 2017 AV receiver to a higher quality build in Marantz jumped out for me. Again keep in mind I’m coming from a budget friendly ($349-$500) Onkyo model.

Marantz sound is not an urban legend
I was trying to decide between two seemingly identical products, the Denon X4800H and the Marantz Cinema 40. Having had the chance to audition both of them for a full afternoon (blind tests in pure direct mode), I realized that the difference is real, the sound of the Marantz comes more ‘analog’, the voices are more real, less processed. The differences of course are marginal, as expected in any comparison of this price range, and are only noticeable in music, in movies both are superb. But again, when you pay this kind of money, you do care about every tiny detail. I’m absolutely in love with this thing, can’t wait to come back home every day to listen to more music.

Excellent sound and powerful receiver with all the technology you need
This is my third Marantz and the best of all three that I have owned. Lots of power and functionality. The sound when paired with my Bowers speakers and subwoofer is awesome.

    Does Everything you Need!
Built like a brick outhouse! Packed with every feature you’ll ever need. Best sound I’ve ever heard. Even a lighted remote. One of the best.

Equipamento maravilhoso!!
