Perfect as a Second “TV” for My Small Condo — Huge Screen, Zero Hassle
I picked up the Optoma ML1080UST as a second TV for my small condo — Mainly for movies, sports, and weekend gatherings. I already have a regular TV in the living room, but I turned the spare bedroom into a second area for when my girlfriend is in the living room and I want to watch without her or have buddies over for games. The room is too tight for anything bigger than a 55″. I wanted a big-screen experience without rearranging my entire layout.Because this is an ultra-short-throw projector, I’m getting a 90-95” image with the unit sitting just a few inches from the wall. For a compact condo, that’s honestly the only practical way to get a screen this big. No ceiling mount, no casting shadows, no pulling the sofa back 3 feet — it just works.Picture quality is excellent for the size of the projector. As a long-time projector user, I know what to expect from 1000 lumens: it’s not for bright daylight, but in evening or controlled lighting, it looks sharp, colorful, and surprisingly clean for such a small UST. Perfect for movie nights, YouTube deep-dives, or watching football with friends. The fact that it has Google TV built in is a massive win. I didn’t need to plug in any streaming sticks — everything from Netflix to Prime to YouTube runs smoothly out of the box. Setup took maybe 10 minutes. Geometry controls and the UST optics made alignment go quickly.Final bonus is how easy it is to move around and take with me to a friend’s, camping or anywhere I can get a spot to put up my mobile UTS screen or a flat wall.A few notes from someone who’s been through a lot of projectors: -If your wall isn’t perfectly smooth, consider a UST-compatible screen — UST lenses pick up every bump. -Don’t expect full TV brightness with lights blasting; using it in ambient-controlled lighting gives the best results. -LED + ultra compact design = zero maintenance and super easy to move around.Overall, the ML1080UST is exactly what I wanted for a second screen: huge image, small footprint, smart OS, and no installation hassle. For condo or apartment living, this thing is a dream.Highly recommended.

    Love this projector!
I bought the ML1080UST for my kids’ room (they’re 8 and 6), and honestly it has worked out even better than I expected. I didn’t want to mount a TV in their room, so this felt like a safer and more flexible option — and it really is.The thing I love most is the portability. I bring it in for movie time or bedtime stories, and when I don’t want them watching or sneaking in a game, I just pick it up and take it out. No arguing, no hidden remotes, no drama. It’s so small and lightweight that moving it around is incredibly easy. The ultra short throw design is also amazing. Their room isn’t big at all, but this projector still gives them a large picture (around 100″) even when it’s basically right next to the wall. It’s literally plug-and-play — put it down, turn it on, and it works. All I need is my fire stick, and turn the light off.Another bonus is that I don’t have to worry about the blue light from a TV blasting into their eyes at night. A projector feels gentler and more comfortable for bedtime use, especially for stories or calm videos.Overall, this little projector has been perfect for our family. The kids love it, and I love that I can control when and where they use it. Highly recommend if you’re a parent looking for a smart alternative to putting a TV in a kid’s room.

    Good for images, not text
Decent for the price, extremely lightweight, good picture quality and impressive color gamut. My only complaint is that the lens doesn’t render small text well, and since I bought it to use as a display for programming, I was disappointed on this front. It probably won’t bother you if you are primarily using it to watch videos.

Perfect for Grandkids AND Game Days — Great for the Holidays!
We bought the ML1080UST mainly for when our grandkids (ages all over the place!) come over, and it has turned out to be one of the most useful gadgets in our house. Whenever the kids are here, we just set this up in whatever room they’ve taken over. It’s small and light enough that we can move it around without any hassle, and within a minute we’ve got a huge screen ready for movies or games.Honestly, it has saved our ears more than once — a room full of excited kids suddenly gets quiet when you fire up a big screen. They sit, watch, and actually relax instead of running around shouting. For that alone, 5 stars! For us adults, this has been great too. We used it for a couple of big games recently, and it’s way more fun watching sports on a huge projected image than on our regular TV. We’re already talking about using it for the Super Bowl this year. The ultra short throw design is a big plus. We don’t have to rearrange furniture or worry about having a long throw distance. Just place it near the wall and it fills the space with a surprisingly large image. Really convenient for a house full of people. One thing to note: to get the best picture, you will want to dim the lights. It’s not meant to compete with bright lighting, but once the room is a bit darker, the image looks great.Overall, this little projector will be perfect for the holidays and family gatherings. The kids love it, the adults love it, and it’s become our go-to anytime we want a big screen without the hassle of a permanent setup

    Bad picture.
Screen wa warped in corners after focusing, input is slow after hitting button, had buffering issues several times even with Wi-Fi 6.

The product reached me in about 5 days despite of said 2 day. Product seems good. I tried different laser projectors. This is the best one II found. Price is on high-side but it is the only one worked for me with my expectation satisficed. Hope it will last long as well. I tried Paihau H2 which is poor in its remote control and menu system not working, also tried Dangbeii which is not a short throw projector (but have a better picture quality), also tried Epson LS650 which could not ceiling mount. Among all those Optoima ML1080UST seems the best.

Perfect size for a UST I’ve been looking for, but too many major disappointments for this price.- Too dim for use during the day in the room with lights on. Color look washed.- Too bright to used at night with all lights turned off. Can’t turn down brightness other than putting it on eco mode. (Which is still too bright and lit the whole room waking up others)- Processor is sluggish and took too long from power on to start being usable. The initial set up too over an hour due to all the update and downloads it must go through. I have an Epson EF12 and it boots faster and is more responsive. (The Optoma is less bright and courser image comparing to the Epson).- The remote feels cheap and hollow, button press has a low quality feel and every press gives a bright blue light which is annoying. Day 1 setup already gave issue because it wouldn’t respond and at times buttons press won’t register until seconds later. Pairing it also had numerous issues and took me 15+ min and 2 reboot to work properly. But again, this thing is sluggish and can be frustrating at times.Optoma was known as a good projector brand and The size of it plus being a UST is the key reason I bought this. (I’ve only used NEC and Epson before). But I’m having second thoughts because of the high price and too many deficiencies. The major turn off is that the image are not completely straight!! It doesn’t have the usual vertical/horizontal keystone adjust but rather a 4 corner type adjustment. While auto adjust works fine, the image is never straight especially at the top.The image I attached is how “wavey” the image is shining on a beige straight wall. (The google TV set up and app install along took almost an hour, that’s after the initial software download/update I already done early in the day). Being 5GHz don’t seem to be any faster, I blame it on the weak processor which can cause stutters at time watching PrimeVideo and slow response during and right after boot.*I also wish pressing and holding the remote power buttons can let you choose to power off or restart (like Epson) rather than go straight to shutting down.Second day use update:Continue to be disappointed by the weak processor, playing prime video using the built-in Google TV is a pain. Stutters and took forever to load even though it uses 5Ghz band. Again, size is perfect and what I wanted for my room, but the performance is too poor and lacking that I can’t justify the 1.5K price tag with many deficiencies. Image is not straight, too dim for lighted room yet too bright to use in the dark. Poor load time due to weak processor, and unresponsive remote/sluggish menu. Image/display not very suitable for computer use due to courser pixel.Very potentially good projector plaques by too many flaws for my need. 🙁
