    Amazing Retinol with no Irritation!
I have very sensitive skin; this is pricey but worth it! My skin looked brighter after using this for just 2 weeks. My dark spots look lighter & my skin is glowing. I have had no irritation & can use this every night!

    It’s worth it.
Love this product. I’m a SENIOR (77y/o)female. And have been using AB RETINOL SERUM at night for months maybe a year.Really healthier more youthful, less dry and smooth effects.

A Skin Care Skeptic and An Expensive Retinol Serum Walk Into a Bar…
First things first: I’m not really a skin care kinda guy. I generally don’t buy expensive products – or any products, really – and I certainly don’t have a routine. Don’t get me wrong! I think skin’s awfully important, seeing as it keeps your guts inside your body and the rest of the world outside, but I generally believe that most people would be better off leaving their skin alone. Don’t overwash, keep the bacteria that live on your skin happy, and nature will mostly do its thing.But. I do have a pretty significant case of keratosis pilaris I’ve lived with for 40+ years, and while it really doesn’t bother me at this point in my life, I was curious if a retinol serum would improve the look of the KP on my face, which manifests in bumpy red patches on my cheeks. Other people with KP have reported good results, so I thought it was worth a try. I’ve followed the directions and applied a small amount nightly for the past two months. No bad reaction initially, so I’ve stuck with it, and I can confidently say… maybe? It’s very hard to tell if there’s been any improvement, and that seems to be normal. The manufacturer says it can take up to three months before you see results, so I’ve got another few weeks to wait. My 1 ounce bottle might make it.And that’s the main problem. Even if the bottle lasts me a full three months, that works out to be $130-ish a month. You’re looking at nearly a $400 investment just to find out if it’s right for you. This is clearly a luxury good. Some people are willing to pay a lot for a product that might improve the look of their skin because it makes them feel good, and that’s okay! It turns out that I am not one of those people. Even if I see noticeable improvement in the KP on my face, I don’t think it would be worth it to me. I think I’d get much more happiness spending that $400 on meals at amazing restaurants, or a plane ticket, or lumber for another garden box. (Look, I really like plants, okay.)On the other hand, if you’re the kind of person who gets a lot of happiness from trying a out a new skin treatment, I think it’s hard to go wrong here. This seems to be one of the few skin products that actually has some real science backing it up, especially if you’re looking to address something like fine wrinkles or acne. This does actually seem to work for most people, if you’re willing to create a regular routine and invest in it for the long-term.

Agreeable with my skin, so far working well.
I got this Augustinus Bader retinol serum just to try out in my skincare routine since I have used retinols on and off as an active product that I apply to stay-on at night. I haven’t been using it quite regularly or long enough and I have quite a number of different products I use in my skincare routine so it is difficult to comment precisely on whether I feel the effects of this product, but I can comment on the consistency and process of applying the cream. The product arrives packaged so that it is clear it has not been opened or used before – I find this to be super important for any products that you apply on your own body, especially the face! The bottle dispenses with a pump, and the cream is a golden yellow color with consistency that is thin but not runny. It is easy to spread around, and I have found it to be non-irritating to my skin. While I have enjoyed testing this product out, I personally don’t find the value in it, especially at its list price, so I probably will not be getting it again.

Vegan, silicone-free, fragrance-free retinol serum with TFC8. Has not irritated my sensitive skin.
I am almost 43 years old with sensitive skin, and at this point in my life, I’ve used a variety of different retinol products. My skin has been irritated by some, but not by others.Fortunately, this one falls into the latter category! I have not experienced any irritation from this retinol serum at all. Best of all, it’s a vegan formula free of silicones and synthetic fragrance. I actually haven’t noticed any scent from it at all. It has a creamy consistency that is thicker than some retinol serums I’ve used previously, but it is still fairly lightweight. It has an opaque pale yellow color.I have been using this serum at night only, and I have been using it in conjunction with Augustinus Bader’s The Cream. I have applied The Retinol Serum first and The Cream second without any issues. However, those with super-sensitive skin might want to use The Sandwich Method, especially if trying retinol for the first time:-Cleanse your face and allow the skin to dry-Apply a thin layer of moisturizer and allow it to soak in for 15 minutes or so-Apply The Retinol Serum-Finish with a final layer of moisturizerWhat sets this retinol serum and other Augustinus Bader products apart is their patented Trigger Factor Complex (TFC8), a proprietary blend of natural amino acids, vitamins, and peptides. So, rather than being just another retinol serum, this product combines retinol with TFC8 to work at the cellular level for healthier and more rejuvenated skin.I’ve previously used an Augustinus Bader body oil that I really liked, but I’m fairly new to products used on the face. I’m about 4 weeks in at the moment, so I am unable to assess this product’s long-term performance. However, one thing I really like about Augustinus Bader is their use of realistic before and after photos. For this product specifically, I love that they are showing me what appears to be untouched photos of a woman around my age who has some skin with some texture. They didn’t edit out any moles or stray eyebrow hairs, and I appreciate that! The only thing I haven’t liked about this serum—and this is a really minor complaint—is that the 1-ounce bottle I ordered comes in a tall, skinny bottle. It’s taller than everything else I have, and I’m constantly knocking it over. In all other regards, I am thoroughly enjoying this serum.
